KACON builds five limit switch series, and they are not interchangeable: they differ in body size and material, current rating, sealing, and whether the NC contact opens positively for safety circuits. This comparison uses the key data from each series catalogue to help you pick the right starting point — for general selection principles, see our guide on how to choose the right limit switch.
The KXL series is the best-selling basic limit switch: an aluminium die-cast body, silver alloy contacts rated 12A at 250VAC, IP67 sealing, and the widest actuator range of the five — 17 heads from plungers and roller levers to yoke levers and spring rods. Mechanical life is at least 10,000,000 operations. Choose KXL for machine tools, packaging and printing machinery, and general factory automation where one proven body should cover many positions. See the KXL series.
The KXM series packs the same design philosophy into a compact miniature body rated 6A at 250VAC and IP66. Its NC contact has a positive opening mechanism, a dual-spring mechanism supports long life, and the contacts are 24K gold plated for low, stable contact resistance — valuable at small signal loads. Twelve actuator heads are available. Choose KXM for space-limited machinery and control circuits that switch small loads. See the KXM series.
The KXN series is a plastic-bodied, double-insulated (Class II) range designed around safety: slow-action NC contacts provide positive opening to EN 60947-5-1, and five contact configurations — 1NC+1NO up to 3NC — let one series serve both control and safety-monitoring positions. Fifteen operating types, AC-15 rating 3A at 250VAC, service life over 500,000 operations. Choose KXN for guard, door and position monitoring where the contact must open positively. See the KXN series.
The KXF series is built for positions where water is the enemy. It is supplied pre-wired and sealed at the factory — plunger, switch body and cable entrance — to IP67, in a one-piece cast aluminium housing. Ratings reach AC-15 5A at 250V with 11 operating types, and a −40°C version can be customised. Choose KXF for food and beverage lines, washdown areas, outdoor and agricultural equipment. See the KXF series.
The ZXG series is a compact horizontal miniature switch with an unusually high 10A rating for its size, positive opening NC, dual-spring mechanism and 24K gold plated contacts. Fourteen actuator types include panel-mount plungers and one-way roller levers. Choose ZXG for mechanisms, small machines and equipment building where mounting space is tight but loads are not small. See the ZXG series.
Machine tools and general machinery: KXL. Small loads and tight spaces: KXM. Safety-related position monitoring: KXN. Wet, washdown or outdoor positions: KXF. Compact mechanisms with higher loads: ZXG. Every series is manufactured by KACON (Korea Auto Controls, founded 1955) with OEM options.
